Fun Fact Friday

Friday! Friday! Friday! Friday!!!

My kids have a tendency to repeat what they're saying until someone acknowledges them!! So I thought I would too!!!

Today's Fun Fact is brought to you by the NHL!! While I've been grumbling about these playoffs....It dawned on me why I dislike them so much this year as I've never had a problem with them before....Actually, a couple of reasons!

#1 is that I much prefer watching hockey live...in the thick of it all...with all the screaming fans...this on tv stuff is just annoying with the announcers calling every single play and person! Tedious and non-stop! Golf doesn't annoy me this way...hahaha

#2 the fact that there are SERIES of games instead of just one...so for the beginning of the play offs, they play best of 5 games!! Why not cut that down to 3!?!?!?! And then make the championship ones at 5 instead of 7!!!! This would dramatically cut down how much I want to hurt my hubby!!!! (kidding hon!) I know, they'd lose money...but come on!!!!

Sidenote...I can't watch baseball (MLB kind) in person unless we're behind home plate or at least near 1st or 3rd base....sitting way high up in the nosebleed section and I can't watch...its too far away and then there's a pop fly I simply can not follow it and figure out where its going!!! Just odd!

Fun Fact Friday

SAHHHHWEEEEET its Friday!!!!!!!!!! Even tho I'm not out in the real working world...I love the weekends to spend time as a family!!!! The kids love it and I love it!!! Just about every morning DJ comes out the living room calling out for his dad...and sometimes he'll come back to me all heartbroken that he's not there!!! Its cute!

Once again I'm not prepared as it was only tonite while getting Howie's coffee ready for the morning it dawned on me that its Friday tomorrow!!!! AHHH

But...here ya go...I know you were worried I'd bail on ya....nah, not me!!!

I guess the fun fact for this Friday is....I LOVE salt!!!! Not on absolutely everything...but most times I prefer salt! And I love salty snacks...chocolate is for special times of the month ifyouknowwhatImean....but give me salt any day and I'm happy! I don't cook with it as Howie doesn't like salt...so I salt my own plate and everyone's happy! Thanks to my dad, I even put it on fruit....grapefruit and watermelon (not now, but in the past) YUM!!!! Cucumbers especially MUST have salt unless they're in a salad....

Fun Fact Friday

It's Good Friday for most...here in the States its not a mandatory holiday....sad really! Neither is Easter Monday...its just Monday!





In any case...it IS Friday!!!





I haven't really thought much on what my fun fact is...so off the top of my head....





As I sit here sipping one...I LOVE Chai tea!!!! Even flavoured Chai is pretty good!! Most places add water, so I've learned to ask for one without it and its just that much stronger and better!!

On the flipside...I don't drink coffee!!! Love the smell of the beans...and when its brewing...but that taste is just awful!! BLECH!!!

Fun Fact Friday

I can't believe its Friday already!! Where did this week go!??! Time flies when you're having fun with your parents!!!

Today's fun fact could be titled Freaky Fact Friday...as most people can't do what I'm about to share with you. It could also be called Freaky Talent Friday...but it doesn't have the same ring to it! :)

Ok, ok, ok...I'll get to it!

I know very few people (my sister Johna is one of them) who can do what I do with my feet.

Pretty much anything!!

No, I can't write with them, but if I really put my mind to it (or lost my arms) I'd damn well learn!

I can pretty much pick up anything...one way or another! More so with my right foot than left, as I am right handed and all.

I think this is why I wear mule shoes....and no socks....so my toes are always available to work!!!!

And this Friday is extra special as my parents are flying here TODAY!!!!!!!

As you can tell, I'm a wee bit giddy!!

Which has something to do with my Fun Fact....

When I'm super excited about something...I clap my hands REALLY fast!! Or I'll let out a WHOOOOOP!!!! I can't contain it!! So I let it out in short bursts! I know...I'm corny! But hey, I can't bottle in my emotions...I'm female!

Here's a fun fact....not too many people know this one....

Growing up, while my mom thought (and tried her damnest!!) I'd become a hygienist...but what I really wanted to do...become a writer. Like novels and stuff, not so much in the reporter sense of the word.

And yet here I am....my own reporter for my own News press....funny how things happen!

Fun Fact Friday

YAY!!!!!!!!! It's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!

Altho, I'm not sure why I'm so excited...its just another day to a mom....lol

But, it is also Fun Fact Friday!!!!

Or rather, quirky fact...yeah, let's go with quirky today!!!

I can NOT watch someone brush their teeth (even just thinking about it gets me!) without cringing and wanting to crawl out of my skin! Kinda like the finger nails on a chalkboard kind of thing. Commericals for toothpaste undo me! I can't watch them! They make my teeth hurt!

In fact, I typically close my eyes when I brush mine....and don't seem to have a problem brushing the kids' teeth...I think it's because I'm in control of the brush for them...I won't even let Sam play with hers...she just wants to chew on it and that drives me!

Fun Fact Friday

Yes!!! Its finally Friday! The radio station I listen to has a song they play at 5:00 pm every Friday nite...I think its titled "Finally Friday" and its quite catchy!

I know, you're waiting to hear my fun fact....


I am a readaholic!


I think I have been all my life! I can remember afternoons spent reading instead of outside playing...I couldn't even tell you how many books I have read in my lifetime so far! But there are two that stand out in particular to me.

The Shack by William P. Young...if you haven't read this, I highly recommend it! Its quite profound! and challenges your thinking in ways you never thought of!

The other is The Celestine Prophecy which again challenged my perspective of things. Its been a while now since I read this one, and I just learned from looking up the link that they're making/have already made a movie of it...might be interesting to see how they translated it to Hollywood!

I simply can not go to sleep without reading something! Even if its 15 minutes of reading, I must! This is where my People subscription comes in handy. Its very easy to read 15 minutes of something and not have to remember where you left off in a book only to have to put it down again soon after. One day I'll get back into novels....its a promise I've made to myself!

Fun Fact Friday

Yup....that time of the week again!!

I recently learned that Truthful Tuesdays have been changed to once a month instead of once a week...in case you were wondering...


My little fun fact...hmmmm....I haven't really thought this one thru this week...been a little busy....

I guess I'd have to go with the side of the bed I HAVE to sleep on! Picture (if you will) standing at the foot of the bed, looking towards the head of the bed....I MUST sleep on the left side!! No ifs, ands or buts about it! I don't care where the bedroom door is...where the bathroom is....where the closet it...or even if it's north/south/east/west facing....if I'm looking at the bed, I'm on the left! Ask Howie...it drives him nuts that I refuse to change sides! He constantly falls asleep on my side only to make me roll him over to his side when I come to bed...which has the added bonus of a pre-warmed bed...as well as drool on my pillow....blech!

So, there ya have it...which side must you sleep on...or does it even matter?? My little sister could care less which side she's on as long as she has a side! lol

Fun Fact Friday

Well...its that time again....FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

My little fun fact was because two of my girlfriends commented on Samantha's cat in the bedroom story (which, incidentally, happened again tonite, the poor girl!) and while I laughed at their stories of memories from their childhoods, it brought on a memory for me. And that memory is the reason behind my "fun fact" for today!

I can NOT sleep with the closet door open....EVER!!!!!! In our old house, before this one, the closet didn't close, at all...and it drove me NUTS!!!

When I was young...before the age of 12 as that how old I was when we moved from the house that it happened in....I was sleeping in the room that used to belong to my sister Joanne (I think she was at college...) and I remember waking up after having a nightmare about snakes, and seeing the clothes in the closet moving...the window was open...and screaming bloody murder!!!

Since then, I can NOT sleep with the closet door open! Ask Howie, he'll tell ya!! He thinks its funny that I have this little idiosyncrasy!

I will say, I'm trying very hard not to impart this on my children....and I don't close their closets! If they're closed, its because the kids did it, not me! In fact, DJ's missing half his closet door...whole other story!...and it doesn't bother me one bit! But don't mess with my closet door!!


OK...join in!! Tell me one of your irrational fears!!! I know mine's not rational at all!!! It would take a hurricane wind to make clothes move in a closet that was 12 feet from the window!!

Fun Fact Friday

Hey!!! It's FRIDAY!!!!!!! This one kind of snuck up on me!!! Not that I'm complaining mind you, but having Howie home sick for 2 days kinda messes with my time frame!

Hmmmmm what little fun fact should I divulge.....


My absolute, all time, FAVOURITE vegetable is cucumbers!!! I can smell them as soon as they're cut into and it just makes me drool!!!! I love them in salads, and as a salad, and just by themselves on a plate with salt! YUM!!!!! I don't like the seeds in the regular cukes, but will eat them in English cukes...odd, I know! lol

Its FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Time for my little blog hop!!

*drum roll* please!

My little Fun Fact today is my favourite colour.

Growing up, it was ALWAYS Blue!!!!! Any shade of blue was just fine with me!! In fact, I made up a rhyme when I was younger....my sister liked red (which morphed into all things pink BLECH!) and so it went a little like this:

Blue is the best
Red is for rascals!

I know, it doesn't rhyme, per se, but it used to drive Tori nuts when I'd say that!

Now, as an adult, I can appreciate ALL the colours God gave us...but still prefer blue and now LOVE purple! I've even decided it's Samantha's favourite colour...yes, for her! DJ decided on his own that he likes blue the best...so my two favourite colours are carried on to the next generation!

I have to say too, that I have fallen in love with brown over the last year...I used to think it was such a drab colour, but dark brown is pretty amazing!!!

I'm not sure when exactly it started...but I'm a stair counter!! As I go up stairs (more so up, than down) I count them! Apparently, my Grandma on my mom's side did this too! So, maybe I observed her doing it and followed suit! But like I said...I have no idea at what age this started...but it feels like I've been doing it all my life!
