HA! Tonite I had an even more panicky moment!!
Wait for it....
This morning DJ woke up full of the excitement that comes with going to Playland while I'm doing the grocery shopping with SamSam! So, there was no "making him go back to sleep" when he woke up at 7:30! BUT, he is now fully trained in turning the TV on by himself...I leave it on channel 118 Sprout for him....and he went potty AND put his own pj pants back on all by himself!!! yes! All this allowed me to stay in my warm bed til 8:30ish! Not too shabby!
We got out of the house by 10:30...again, not too shabby! We hit up the Feed Store for dog food...and then Rite Aid for diapers that were on sale...and then finally to Fred Meyer! Put DJ in and off Sam and I went! About a half hour in I got a phone call telling me he had to pee...apparently they'd tried to page me (I just don't hear it...and I worked in a grocery store for 9 years!!) so called me finally. I did point out that on the sheet that I sign him in and out of it clearly states to call me as I'm hearing impaired! Duh!!!! Took him potty, and back in he went! We finished our shopping, picked DJ up and headed for home.
Wait for it....
When Samantha went down for her nap, DJ tried to play outside....but no luck. He played by himself for a few minutes and came in. It was VERY windy out there today!! And cold! So he came in and watched TV while I took a cat nap! I got up shortly after and made sketti sauce...took a shower...and got myself together to run to Lynnwood for an Avon meeting and a client drop off.
Dropped the order off first and got a brief visit with my SIL too...then hit up Taco Bell...I got a free Fresco Chicken Taco coupon from my PEOPLE magazine...wasn't anything to write home about, so I won't! Definitely NOT worth 1.99!!! I made it to my meeting with five mins to spare! Whew!
Great meeting!!! Got a new lipstick...new lipstick samples!....new eye cream samples...and won a door prize! Sweet!! Plus, I had fun tonite!! My district manager is getting to know me both from the meetings/emails and from Facebook! Gotta love it!!
Once the meeting was over I booked it outta there! It was already 8:30 at this point and I just wanted to be home...I knew I wasn't going to get to do bed time with Sam, but still wanted to see my husband for more than the 15 minutes I had before I left! I did have one more stop to make on the way home....a manual to return for a dune buggy type car that was given to us for DJ that we've since politely refused...they found another family to give it to and wanted the manual to give with it. Makes sense, so I dropped it off as I was in the area. Left the car running and went to the front door, dropped off the envelope and headed back to the car.
And couldn't get in!!
I'm dead serious!
I then started panicking!! The car's running...
My phone is in the car....
Howie's put the kids to bed....and he's got the other key!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Turns out...I didn't pull hard enough on the door!! In my panicked state I tried the passenger door stupidly and then went back to the driver's door and gave it a good heave ho and it opened!
Oh, the sigh that left me was a whole body sigh!!!
I climbed back into the warmth and headed home! Sheesh!!
I did get to tuck Howie in and then eat a real dinner!!! Man, was I hungry!!!! I did learn that it's okay to bring your dinner with you...so next time I'll be more prepared! Now, I'm off to watch some stuff on DVR...and knit!

Famous Last Words
You know the kind....these are the ones I uttered to Howie this morning
"I won't run out of gas!! I should be able to make it to Costco, no problem"
And his response "Famous last words!! You do realize I can't come rescue you if you DO run out of gas, right? And then what?"
"Yes, dear. I do realize that! But I also know the truck and if it says I have miles left til empty, then I do!"
Five minutes later I started panicking!! I was literally on 0 driving around to find a gas station!! I wasn't gonna make it to Costco after all!!! My hands were shaking!! There were prayers being sputtered non-stop!! All I had to do was make it to the next intersection...I could literally SEE the gas station!!!!
*sigh* I made it!! Literally by the skin of the gas tank!!!!
Since it was a Shell station...and I was all of 2 miles from Costco...I only put 5.00 in! I was just gonna do one gallon, but put the whole 5 in. It was a hurtful 2.89.9 per gallon!!!!!! How on earth do people afford to drive if they only buy gas from Shell??? That's INSANE!!!!! It was 2.63.9 at Costco...and I got 7/8 of the tank full on 50.00! Not too shabby!!! That'll get us to and from the library a few times! LOL
We did our grocery shopping and then headed back to Monroe with no sense of panic or rush! Did a quick stop at Albertsons as their specials were up today. I was smart and brought lunch for the kids with me...so they ate in the parking lot with the promise of a cookie from Albertsons bakery. Worked well!
We got home about 10 mins til 2 and Samantha was awake until I backed into the driveway...literally!!! Unbelievable!! She didn't even budge when I unloaded the groceries, so I let her stay there....and put the groceries away and made myself some lunch. Once an hour passed I went down to check on her and she was awake. I think she'd just woken as there were no tears yet! Whew!
DJ had been begging from the moment we walked in the door to have Kristopher come over and play...and lo and behold, there came a knock at the door! He'd come over to play!!! Happy kids I had!! He went home around 5 with the promise he could join us for the pajama story time at the library tonite.
Dinner was a bit early knowing we had to be at the library for 7...but we made it!! And they all had fun! Samantha was cracking everyone up with her constant babble!!! And then she had the NERVE to tell ME to be quiet!!! Yeah, that's her new phrase! "Quiet!" Nice! DJ's new one "You're bugging me!" OY!
We got home shortly after 8, after dropping Kristopher off at home, and then got the kids settled and in bed. New books were a big help in getting DJ to settle! Sam was just plain tired with having such a short nap today!
Now, I'm off to watch Biggest Loser...again, LOVE my DVR!!!! I did start a new knitting project...I LOVE mindless knitting!!!! LOL

When does this
Whiny, high pitched, full of attitude 3 year old crap end!??!!? I'm serious!!!
He's been on my LAST nerve since the moment he woke up!!!!!
Then proceeded to wake Samantha up by turning her light on!
But, all day, he's been near tears, in tears, or whining about something! I've heard 4 doesn't get any better either...heaven help me!
He even had Kristopher over to play for a bit...we played Chutes and Ladders...DJ won both freakin times!!! And then, without warning, Kristopher went home...without a word to us....I heard the front door close....so I go running out there, and he says he needed some air (he's 3 too!) and then he took off for home. Well, if that didn't set MY 3 year old off...he was inconsolable for over an hour! Begging to go over to his house...asking me to call an leave a message for him to come back over...asking me to see if his mom was online (Yes, he knows I can do that! Smart alec that he is!) Finally I put Bambi in, and the noise level settled! Whew!
Snickers got banned from the house again...she rolled in something AGAIN this morning...and with all the rain we've had overnite, it was nasty!!! DJ told me Sam pooped, but it wasn't her...it was Snickers. I saw what was on her neck, and grabbed two wipes to clean her up...yeah, nothing doing! It came back completely yellow!!! And released even more stink!!! She stayed outside all day, and then in the garage when it started getting dark....I just now sprinkled her with the lavender talc...which smells nicer than her...but she will NOT be in our room tonite!! Howie's promised to give her a REAL bath tomorrow evening! I'm holding him to it too!!! He's got 6 pairs of work pants that need hemming....I'm holding them hostage!! hahaha
Life has returned to normal...everyone's back to work...kids back in school....tv back in session!! I'm missing The Bachelor right now because of some bowl game that Howie's watching... thank goodness for DVR!! Besides, I much prefer to watch it from DVR...all the promos they do about what's going to happen next is a waste of time!! Just show the dang show already!!! We're watching...not going anywhere...grrrrrrrr lol
Gonna bring up a tote that we found in the garage that has yarn in it....YES!!! And gonna get knitting something...anything!!! This boredom is getting to me!! When I knit, I don't snack! So, gotta get to knitting!!!!!

Not ME! Monday
I know its been a while since I posted a NMM post...you know, the blog carnival that MckMama started way back when!
So, I have a few transgressions I need to confess....
Christmas day, when Howie left to take Jake home, and I fed the kids their extremely LATE breakfast, I most certainly did not eat cookies for breakfast knowing that I'd be making a brunch as soon as Howie got home. No, I'd never eat something so unhealthy just to tide me over til I could eat for real!! And, I did not hide the cookies I was eating from the kids lest they want them too!!!! SO not a mom thing to do!! :)
This past week we ran out of the kids' vitamins....they get these YUMMY gummy bears from GummyVites...they have real fruits and veggies in them! Well, giving 2 a day to each kid makes us go thru them that much faster!! So, when we did run out, I did not just give them regular gummy bears that were in the cupboard just to keep the habit up.
Even further back in the memory banks....the time I took the kids shopping before Christmas at costco...and we had to park in an unusual spot for us...which then led to me using a different exit to leave the parking lot....I did not get turned around so completely that I went the wrong way to go home. Thankfully I discovered it before I'd passed the first exit!!! And thankfully the kids have NO clue that I'd made said mistake, or I'd get ribbing from them!!!

I love when you have a day
That has NO plans!!!!
Boy, did we get a lot accomplished today!!
Howie got all the lights down now, it was a beautiful sunshiny day for it...and there's rain (TONNES of it) in the forecast...so perfect that they're down now!
I've kept on with the organizing...I did see my kitchen counters this afternoon, but as I look over now, its quite full again! Just gotta load up the dishes and we'll be good to go! It truly amazes me how fast it collects!! Its like we have little clutter leprechauns or something! Oh, wait...that would be our CHILDREN!!!!! lol
We also had company! Friends of ours came out for a visit and to bring us a Christmas present! DJ had fun opening it all up!! Howie and I got matching UW Huskies snuggies!!! I have a blue one that my g/f Jackie gave me, so now we have 3 and there should be no fighting amongst the little ones...and I should get to stay warm...right? The kids got 3 DVDs to watch, and we got 3 jars of goodies to make, and a calendar, which got put up right away!! We were in need!! And the jars of goodies...I just love those kinds of gifts!!!! A jar of brownie mix (with nuts!) and a jar to make Chicken Noodle Soup...and a jar to make Minestrone soup, which I've never made! YUM!!!
Once they left, we took advantage of DJ off playing and Samantha sleeping...no, not THAT way!!!! Silly! Howie worked in the garage organizing...and I worked in the downstairs desk area, organizing! I found all kinds of pictures!!! Mostly professional ones of the kids....and I need a proper album for them. They're 8x10's or 10x13's so they need a special special album!! Big enough one that is! I also found lots of cards that Howie and I have exchanged...and finally had the inspiration to put them in a box that's just for our mementos. So the kids can have physical proof their mom and dad LOVED each other!!! And for cute reminders...like the weekend Howie proposed to me...somehow the arm chair cover ended up in my suitcase and I discovered it when I got home. Or the t-shirt I slept with that was Howie's and sprayed it with his cologne every time I saw him. That kind of stuff.
With all this organization we had a lot of garbage and recycle....in fact, the recycle was just collected yesterday morning, and its already 3/4's full!!! I'm huge on recycling!!!
Dinner was fabulous!!! I did the beer can chicken again...used sparkling apple cider this time! YUM!!! And I now have chicken to make that chicken noodle soup I got the mix of! Delish!!! And I made rice pudding...man, my house smelled fabulous today!!!
Now, its time for bed...my prime time shows are slowly coming back to life now that the holidays are over...but then awards season hits...never ending!

Undecorating is far less
Fun than decorating!! And it seems that it takes longer too! Why is that?!?!
In any case, apart from the roof, our house is fully unChristmased!! Yeah, I know that's not a REAL word....but its MY word!
I now have MY spot back in the living room...and that room seems so large to me now! lol I kept the lighted garland up under the tree, since we ARE in the Evergreen state and all, but I did take its decorations off. I figure I'll wait til Spring and get something ivy-ish, or something floral to put up there. That way I'll have three to play with during the year. I like that!
Other than that, today was a wash! I tried to go to the mail box place to mail off some Avon stuff, and it was closed...or rather, I was too late! I did return the movie tho, and decided to get Teriyaki for dinner...its been AGES since we've had it! Typically we find ourselves wanting it on Sundays, and they're closed then. Plus, since we've moved, we haven't tried any local places...it was alright! I could taste orange in their sauce....and garlic...just not what we're used to....but good nonetheless! I'll have to ask our neighbours which one they prefer...if the even like Teriyaki!
I did get some laundry done...and HUGE vacuuming....man, that was A LOT of needles!!! I wasn't exactly gentle taking the lights off...so I made an even bigger mess that I should have I guess. I also reorganized the bins that store our Christmas stuff now that we have breakable ornaments! Then the reorganizing bug hit me and I started working on the pantry...I have visions of how I want it to look...just gotta get it there! Those Avon boxes sure come in handy!!! They're perfect!!
I never did post a picture of our yearly ornament did I? My bad! I picked it up in Maui when we were there....it's a tropical fish that has springy fins....and the gal I bought it from put Maui 2009 on one side, and The Hughes Ohana on the other. I just love it!!! Its quite ugly, but lovable!!! lol
Once we got the kids in bed, we picked a movie to watch! Our first choice was the Harry Potter movie, but it's a 2 and half hour long movie...and it was already after 9! I personally wanted to watch Julie & Julia, but knew Howie wouldn't want to...so I picked one for him. Dumb dumb dumb!!!! One of the American Pie movies...and I have serious issue with it being set in a high school...and all about sex....especially when I'm trying to teach the opposite to my stepson!!! Movies like this shouldn't be made!! Waste of money!!!
In other Jake news...he's officially a licensed driver!!! Don't say I didn't warn you!! lol I'm proud he got it first shot!!! Mr Bigshot didn't think he needed to practice parallel parking like I warned him to...yeah, he lost points on that one!! You see, the DOL here has these 4 yellow posts you have to parallel park between...very daunting!!! When I had to take the test 5 1/2 years ago, I practiced every single chance I got!! I still don't park like that as I hate it! I'd rather walk further from a normal spot than parallel park closer!!! So, yeah, HUGE milestone for him!! Scary for us!!! His risk factor just went up exponentially! Think about it! Man!
OK, I must get to bed...I was falling asleep watching TV earlier and knew I hadn't blogged yet, so here I am! just for you! lol

How do you say it?
Two thousand and ten? or Twenty ten??
Personally, I can't stand the latter!!! It wasn't twenty oh nine?? So why is it okay to say twenty ten? Just irks me! lol
For the start of the year...I'm loving it!!!
DJ slept til almost 8 am IN HIS OWN BED for the second nite in a row!!!!! I feel like a new woman with all that sleep! LOVE it!
I got to wake up with my hubby in the bed, as Fridays are his late day....SO nice and warm!
Once breakfast was over, I took the kids to Alderwood Mall to Picture People, who are having an amazing special....their normally $100.00 package was on sale for $9.00! You better believe I jupmped on that band wagon!!! Unforunately they have their pictures protected on the website, or I'd have snagged a couple for you to see! In the end, I got the pkg which had 8x10, 2- 5x7, and a sheet of wallets, and then in a different pose, 25 Valentine cards!!! Oh, I just love them!!!
Hey, I know, I'll put up a contest...get an adorable Valentine card from us! All you have to do is comment!! How easy is that!??!! Of course, if no one comments, I'll feel slighted! And scarred forever!!! You wouldn't want that would you!?!?! So, comment already!!!!! lol
While we were in getting the pix done, the truck was getting a MUCH needed oil change!!! Sears had an amazing deal, their normally 29.99 oil change on sale for 19.99...THEN there's another mail-in rebate for 10.00 off that service! After reading the fine print, the 10.00 will be sent to you payable to Sears Auto Center...go figure! Even still, getting a 19.99 oil change for the Durango is amazing!
After the mall I tried delivering my Avon, but of the two I had with me, only one was home...so we popped over there. Chatted for a few mins and were on our way! We made one more stop to drop of a belated Christmas gift to friends and then we dropped Shirah off at the park and ride to catch a bus home. Having her with us this morning was a HUGE help!!!!! Whew!
The ride home was quiet on the kid front...they both fell asleep quickly! No more listening to Horton Hears a Who!
When we got home DJ was begging (literally) for Kristopher to come over and play...so I called and left a message....try explaining to a 3.5 y/o that leaving a message is the best one can do!!!!! In the end tho, he spotted Kristopher coming across the back yard and was jumping up and down!! About 5:30 there was a knock on the door, and it was Kristopher's dad asking if DJ could join them on a walk in Monroe....well heck ya! So we got him all bundled up and he was off! I can't tell you how nice dinner was!!! Just me and SamSam....so quiet!!! And she ate all by herself, which meant I got warm food!!! Imagine that! lol
Howie and DJ got home within 5 mins of each other...so once I got Sam down for the nite, DJ ate a super late dinner and then in bed by 9:15...so, not too terrible!
I'm off to watch the rest of Obsessed....I'll let ya know how it is...not that I'm any kind of movie critic by any means! ha!

For the start of the year...I'm loving it!!!
DJ slept til almost 8 am IN HIS OWN BED for the second nite in a row!!!!! I feel like a new woman with all that sleep! LOVE it!
I got to wake up with my hubby in the bed, as Fridays are his late day....SO nice and warm!
Once breakfast was over, I took the kids to Alderwood Mall to Picture People, who are having an amazing special....their normally $100.00 package was on sale for $9.00! You better believe I jupmped on that band wagon!!! Unforunately they have their pictures protected on the website, or I'd have snagged a couple for you to see! In the end, I got the pkg which had 8x10, 2- 5x7, and a sheet of wallets, and then in a different pose, 25 Valentine cards!!! Oh, I just love them!!!
Hey, I know, I'll put up a contest...get an adorable Valentine card from us! All you have to do is comment!! How easy is that!??!! Of course, if no one comments, I'll feel slighted! And scarred forever!!! You wouldn't want that would you!?!?! So, comment already!!!!! lol
While we were in getting the pix done, the truck was getting a MUCH needed oil change!!! Sears had an amazing deal, their normally 29.99 oil change on sale for 19.99...THEN there's another mail-in rebate for 10.00 off that service! After reading the fine print, the 10.00 will be sent to you payable to Sears Auto Center...go figure! Even still, getting a 19.99 oil change for the Durango is amazing!
After the mall I tried delivering my Avon, but of the two I had with me, only one was home...so we popped over there. Chatted for a few mins and were on our way! We made one more stop to drop of a belated Christmas gift to friends and then we dropped Shirah off at the park and ride to catch a bus home. Having her with us this morning was a HUGE help!!!!! Whew!
The ride home was quiet on the kid front...they both fell asleep quickly! No more listening to Horton Hears a Who!
