YES!!!!!!! Its Friday again!! Which means I got to sleep in a wee bit today!!
But it's also time for *said in an announcer voice* Fun Fact Friday *echo day day day*
Here's a fun fact....not too many people know this one....
Growing up, while my mom thought (and tried her damnest!!) I'd become a hygienist...but what I really wanted to do...become a writer. Like novels and stuff, not so much in the reporter sense of the word.
And yet here I am....my own reporter for my own News press....funny how things happen!
What did you want to do when you were younger!?!?! Come on, (HELEN) join in the fun of Fun Fact Friday!!!! You know you want to!!!!
Til next time...ciao!
I wanted to be a veterinarian from as early as I can remember. When I was 15 my Mom got me a job as a kennel girl at a local vet hospital. I was SO excited, and went in the first day with great ambitions of saving puppies, consoling children, assisting the white coat guys with interesting life-altering surgeries. The only life altering thing that happened was for me - I found out I didn't have the fortitude to do what needed to be done for the animals. I was way to emotional to be objective, and it affected my job in a very negative way. I lasted a week, crying at least half of every shift, then finally went, head hung low, to talk to my boss about my total inability to be involved in caring for sick animals. I was devastated that I was a failure and that my dream would never happen. So for the next few years I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do. As a back-up plan, and because it was very cheap at the time, I went to Nursing School out of high school, and within the first 2 weeks I found out that not only did I LOVE working with sick humans, I was really good at it. Please don't judge me for being able to handle the sadness & pain of humans and not of animals. I cant explain it myself. But I went on to have a wonderful career, in many different roles and specialties, as a nurse. Sometimes things just work out as they should.
ReplyDeleteI still don't know what I want to be and I am 31!!
ReplyDeleteMy sister had the best answer ever though- she was about 3 and she "wanted to be a chocolate Easter Bunny".
:-)
I wanted to be a lawyer that helped handicapped people in discrimination cases (because my mom is h/c and we saw it all the time growing up)... but I hated HS and didn't want to go to college and endure MORE of the same BS that happened there.
ReplyDeletePlan B was to be an airline stewardess because I wanted to travel and didn't want to pay for it. My mom said that was kind of a "dumb" job, in that it didn't really need a lot of smarts, and talked me out of it.
As you can see... I did neither. I was in mortgage for 6 years, till that crashed, and now it appears my path will lead me through insurance in some form. Heh.
